How we make a difference
Gibela has made a public commitment to make a difference to the communities surrounding our Dunnottar factory in Ekurhuleni. This commitment is part of our Make A Difference campaign, which brings together projects that are primarily focused on education and skills development.
“Education is a great enabler in shaping young people as active global citizens who will put South Africa on the map,” says Gibela’s Economic Development Director, Dr Buyiswa Mncono-Liwani. “This can only be achieved when they are given tools to solve problems, innovate, develop new products and make new discoveries. We are therefore creating awareness about careers in science, technology, engineering and maths and to prepare learners to adapt to skills relevant in the modern workplace.”
There are a number of socio-economic projects that we have put in place to make this a reality. These range from early childhood development and educational support programmes, to the bursaries, internships and apprenticeships we provide to young people interested in working in our industry.
In everything we do, we strive to Make a Difference in South Africa every day.
